Two Podcast Series That Showcase Solutions For A World on Edge
Spotlighting What Works in a Fractured World
I love solutions journalism—stories that don’t just dwell on a particular problem, but instead explore how those problems can be solved. It’s been a driving force behind my own journalism for years. Along the way, I’ve built a solid audience, so I know this kind of storytelling deeply resonates with the international affairs crowd that gathers around Global Dispatches, the podcast and Substack.
To that end, I have two series for you to check out.
In partnership with the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Global Dispatches podcast published a five-part series in conjunction with the Carnegie Nuclear Policy Conference highlighting some of the greatest challenges in nuclear security—and how we can build a more secure world amid this dangerous new nuclear era. From speaking with open-source sleuths who uncover secret stockpiles to examining efforts to reduce the threat of nuclear weapons in outer space, this series features insights from five leading thinkers and doers in the nuclear security space.
When Treaties Work is a series I created in partnership with Lex International, a Switzerland-based philanthropy that supports international law. The series examines five distinct international treaties, shows how they were created, and explains how they have positively influenced state behavior. This includes behind-the-scenes treaties like the Basel Convention on Hazardous Waste—which established rules of the road for transporting toxic waste internationally—and the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, which has helped entrench a valuable global norm against nuclear weapons testing.
I love producing these series because they give me the opportunity to share stories of sometimes unconventional and often unsung heroes of international affairs with my audience—mostly policy professionals like you.
